How did you decide what you want in life? Did you go after it with everything you’ve got, grab every chance with both hands and pursue your decision relentlessly?

A world full of people, and women in particular, deciding what they want, going for it, achieving it and celebrating themselves is a real possibility. But not all of us have either decided what we really want or are relentlessly pursuing it to fruition.

The start of the new year

As we stand at the start of this new year, what are your dreams and aspirations for 2022? Have you decided? By which I mean, are you committed to your choices and ready to take action towards your goal without stopping until you get there?

If the answer is yes, then great! Well done! I look forward to seeing you on the journey that will be 2022.

If the answer is no, or sort of, if you would like to know what you want in life but are uncertain as to how to make that decision, then you have come to the right place. We have a great way to be able to make these big life decisions with ease that is really going to help you. You can use it any time and it’s easy to remember and to use.

The key to deciding what you want in life

The key to deciding what you want in life lies in this one fundamental criteria.

Deciding who you want to be.

All other decisions to do with life choices come from this one decision, who do you want to be. When you know the answer to this question, it becomes so much easier to answer other questions. You will probably also find that you are more relaxed, more decisive and more purposeful once you have made a decision around who you want to be.

Don’t overthink it.

First steps first.  Deciding who you want to be is not a forever choice. You don’t need to decide today, and then remain that person forever. Just decide for now. ‘Now’ might be the next year, the next 5 years, or 10 years. A reasonable length of time, but not necessarily forever.

Who v What

I have referred to the who v what of your life before and will link to that blog post at the end of this post. The who v what exercise is a useful way of making a decision around who you want to be. What it does is separate out the functions you perform in life against who you are.

All other decisions flow from this one fundamental criteria. Who do you want to be.

Oonce you have decided that, you can make all other decisions with the greatest ease. You will love the decisions you make because they will be part of you, part of your own personal make up.  Part of your own unique DNA on this earth. You know the phrase about there being only one you on this planet?  Well, when you make that decisions about who you want to be, that’s when you start really living as that unique human being.

So, make that decision today. Who do you want to be?  Then spend the rest of your life living up to it.
