Type You not Type A

Smiling woman with blond hair. Blog post is about being Type you, not Type A. Her head it tilted and she is facing the camera. She has red lipstick. There is sunshine in the background

One day the penny dropped

that

people who call themselves perfectionist

are quite badly behaved

and for some reason

their demands and foot stamping and irrational requests

are tolerated

because

they’re a perfectionist

It’s just an excuse to behave badly

and like a child

making unreasonable requests and everybody’s life quite hard

Type A personality

same thing

We have to put up with more irrational footstamping

and ridiculous excuses for acting unreasonably

and trying to exact unreasonable standards on others simply because

I’m Type A that’s just how I am

There is no Type A

it’s just a made up word

used to describe and excuse character traits that are not attractive

These character traits come from insecurity not confidence

but we are taught to admire them

Then one day I realised I actually looked up to Type A people

Actually wanted to be like them

because I thought it would get me ahead

That’s so rubbish

It took me away from being myself

of developing for myself

of thinking for myself

All in order to become an unpleasant member of society

Well no more

The only measure of success is whether you want to be successful

in whatever way you want to be successful

That’s it

Don’t chase being Type A or a perfectionist

Just concentrate on being you

Type you

Type me

It’s the same with clothes

Why be jealous of someone wearing skinny jeans and a tank top

if you want to wear a dress

Decide what you want to wear

and wear it

If you don’t like what you’re wearing

change it

If you don’t know how

I’ll help
